Welcoming the World to Philly’s fabulous waterfront

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Penn’s Landing is a public waterfront area in Philadelphia, stretching along the Delaware Riverfront from Spring Garden Street to Washington Avenue. It includes a marina, a Great Plaza used for performances and festivals, the Spruce Street Harbor Park, an ice skating rink, numerous restaurants, shops, and historic ships. At midnight New Year’s Eve, spectacular fireworks are set off over the river and huge crowds gather to watch. The area was developed by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, and in 2010 the DRWC hired Indie-Life staffers to conduct a survey of visitors and tourists to gauge their reception of the new, 6pm fireworks show aimed at bringing more families to the event. The survey results–showing huge appreciation of the earlier time, and a surge in business at family-friendly hotels and restaurants in the area–drove the decision to make the 6pm fireworks show an annual event.

Indie-Life Media has provided staffing and marketing services to Penn’s Landing since 2009. Our friendly brand ambassadors can usually be spotted handing out fliers, maps, and information, and assisting visitors with their day at the waterfront. Indie-Life’s guerrilla marketing teams have done offsite work as well, drumming up awareness of upcoming Penn’s Landing events and representing our DRWC clients for media events.
